Ming Chen’s Open Studio: A Heartfelt Gathering of Art & Community

📍 Gallery 128, 150 E 10th St, Claremont, CA 91711

🗓 May 4, 2025 | 4–7 PM

This past Saturday, Gallery 128 lit up with energy, color, and connection as Ming Chen hosted her Open Studio event in Claremont. The space was filled with familiar faces, new friends, and powerful emotions—all tied together through Ming’s interactive community art project, “Emotional Fragments.”

At the center of the show was a large collaborative tapestry composed of individual artwork squares, each created by participants who shared a piece of their story, emotion, or visual voice. From playful doodles and painterly gestures to deeply personal expressions, this evolving patchwork became a shared journal of sorts—one that captured the collective spirit of the evening.

Visitors weren’t just viewers—they were creators. Many contributed to the project during the event, adding new “emotional fragments” live on the spot. It was beautiful to see people of all backgrounds pick up a brush, marker, or pen, and dive right into the process with openness and vulnerability.

Some moments we loved:

  • Friends pointing proudly to their pieces on the wall 🌟

  • Guests taking time to talk with Ming about their contributions

  • The mix of music, laughter, and thoughtful silence as people explored the works

Big shoutout to everyone who participated—your names are etched in gratitude on the Acknowledgement board.

This wasn’t just an art show. It was an invitation to share, connect, and reflect.

💗 Explore. Express. Grow.—Ming Chen
